I can't believe anyone is seriously getting offended by the use of a color that could be construed as "military"...what the heck is wrong with military themes in games and cartoons? What about G.I. Joe? Beetle Bailey? The military is just a fact of life. Most countries have one. So did most ancient cultures. Since when is it contraversial? Things they DO can be contraversial, but their very existence should not be a touchy subject.
And then there's the all-important point that camo ISN'T even exclusive to the military to begin with. Seriously, people...GET OVER IT.

Deleted by myself due to an over reactionary reply below. I don't attack others opinions, please refrain from attacking mine.
I'm off to find if there's any new news now

Don't whip out the silly old "opinion defense". That they need to get over it is also an opinion, and protected under the same principles. I stand by it and I'll say it again. There is no reason to consider this color a political thing with or without today's issues. My point still stands that it has ALWAYS been a common subject of cartoons and games, including for little kids. The presence of christmas and halloween pets is a *lot* more questionable and potentially offensive to some people, and I think anyone who would be offended by either of them is a good for nothing prude. Not every military in the world goes around terrorizing other countries, you know...some soldiers ARE actual heroes. I see no difference between the idea of a military neopet and a police officer neopet. Heck, I'd still say this was 100% harmless and nonpolitical if they even included helmets.
And then there's the fact that it's just a popular color pattern. Lots of people wear it just to look cool.
And don't even kid about posting on the official neoboards. 99% of the posts on them are and always have been moronic garbage. No good comes of them and I wouldn't care if they were removed from the site entirely.

No one needs to get over their opinion but there is no reason to take offense to a pattern. The pattern is in fashion now, did you get offended when stores started selling camo-print shirts and pants? There are wars in Neopets, and Maraqua has a military. And IRL militaries are essential for the existance of a country, else others will just move in and take over. If you associate the pattern with the military, and you don't like the military, then don't paint your pet it. If you associate the color white with the KKK, don't paint your pet it. I really do not see the big deal. If they were holding guns, then maybe.

The debate on this ends here simply because it's not the point of the thread and the debate is getting way too overheated.

Are we still allowed to discuss the colour as how it looks and not "what it does or does not represent?"

Not to go off the off-topic camouflage thing but..
Has anyone found the 200th neopian times avatar that was talked about in the editorial last week? It's supposed to be released monday.
The trading card is called "Neopian Times 200th Anniversary Card" and is searchable on the shop wiz, the image is the one that was on the news:
http://images.neopets.com/games/tradingcards/356.gif We were kind of hoing that the card is an avatar item, so that it's not just the people who got in the NT that get the avatar.

Exactly. Discuss the color, but not the representation.

That would be nice. I was going to enter, but really, I've been rather busy lately and it just went over my head, but just because someone may get into the 200th issue, it shouldn't mean they should be more deserving than the person who gets into the 201st, right? The idea the card is an avatar item is a nice idea, and even though it would make finishing my gallery even harder, I agree with it.
Edited to fix a typoey thingy

If anything, its harder to get into a normal issue as normal issues are smaller and you can't fall back on the cliche "ONG! ITZ DA 200TH EPISODE!!" jokes.
*le sigh* It's a colourfill paint brush

I wanted to see pets hiding behind bushes and lampposts etc

Erm, I am in the NT issue 200 and I can say it wasn't any harder than it was any of the other times I got in a normal issue. First of all, I'd say it was actually easier, since there were more than twice of the regular stuff (especially comics) and more people had a chance. 2nd of all, the editor is a pretty new editor, Darcy, and I do believe she didn't check every single article or story or comic that was published so you can even repeat something written, in fact I wrote a collab. about a pretty common topic. Third of all, most of the stuff in issue 200 weren't exactly issue 200 related, even if their name was (that was just by the writers to assure it'll get into issue 200), there was just an article, a few comics and a story or two. And fourth of all, what type of issue the issue is shouldn't affect how good or bad you write. You're accepted if what you wrote is good, so 'not being able to write about the 200th issue' isn't an excuse of being rejected or hard to be accepted. If you write good, you can get in the NT 50 times without ever making an article about a special issue or without making on Illusen Day an article about Illusen and etc.
... my opinion, don't flame me please. I haven't been here for ages.

Raygirl is right.... I was in the 200th issue as well for my comic. It wasnt harder than normal.... I just sent in my comic and they accepted it a few weeks later and it was in that issue, as well as many more comics than usual, so if anything, it was easier to get in that issue than any other.

I was going through my SDB and noticted they changed the Seasonal Quiguki (released in the 2003 Advent Calender), likely because there were 2 Quigukis with Santa-ish attire (in 2003
and 2004)

Hehe, in tnts massive revamp program they made a little mistake with two tuskaninny items...they mixed up the images of two of the tuskaninny ice creams:
This is supposedly the Tigerbuggle Tuskaninny Ice Cream:
And this the Thistleberry Tuskaninny Ice Cream:
Just a note to be careful that if your after one of those you pick the right one! I sent an error report but I don't know how fast they fix that kind of thing. It amused me though, I had both in my shop and I stared at them for ages trying to work out if my eyes were playing tricks on me
I quite like the new Seasonal Quiguki though it is rather sinister looking xD

Ooh, that Seasonal Quiguki is very odd looking. Kind of reminds me of Big Bird for reasons which I have no idea. O___O
