My off-the-wall theory:

The club president is the one hiding the history, which is why he gets mad every time we find a new constellation. After we find the 12th, it will be revealed that he is hiding the history, and we'll have to fight him in the BD and defeat him with The Astronomy Club.

so, a protractor is an angle measurer and another name for a compass. but it could still be the angle thing. i mean, it's shaped like:

right?
so maybe he's going to use the sharp bits at the bottom, where the curve meets the flat part. those could be dangerous...
naaa, TNT meant as in a compass. :P

How's this for a wild theory:

Jerdana isn't really the protector. Finneus is. Jerdana erased everyone's memories, and replaced Finneus' statue with one of herself so that everyone would BELIEVE that she was one of the heroes. Therefore, when Finneus said she was possibly the betrayer, he was using the knowledge that the statues show the twelve heroes, and then when he thought about it, the magic didn't FEEL like magic that a hero would use, using his intuition, which would be correct. Because if she isn't a hero, then her magic wouldn't feel like one of the heroes' magics.

:P :D

edit: And what better way to know how different magics feel than to have some magic yourself?
edit 2: And isn't it strange that of all the traits that are/were important for heroes to have, knowledge wasn't one of them?

Maybe we'll see a Legend of Zelda-esque twist, in that there are actually thirteen heroes, with Finneus as the thirteenth. Maybe he will be elected to join the Hall of Heroes for his deeds in saving Altador (whilst we go without thanks, as per usual. :)). Either that, or he replaces the one who cast the magic in the first place.

I can see it now. A nice Lenny statue in the middle of the hall, on top of the star:

"This is a statue of Finneus, the Archivist."

Excellent

But, wouldn't King Altador be knowledge? o_O That seems logical to me.

As for fixing the activeX problem, yea I could un-install the update, but it's not giving me any errors just making me click more.

Ok, sorry this is offtopic, but about the Active X problem, go here:
http://cal-mum.com/tidbits.htm
It explains the situation.

Now, ON topic...I think a statue of Finneus would be awesome! I think there is MUCH more to him than meets the eye.

Sat Apr 22, 2006 3:58 pm

it actually would make sense for Finneus to perhaps be one of the heroes, after all wisdom and knowledge aren't represented, and they are rather important. as a representative of knowledge, he is left to be a guide or something? the only thing that wouldn't fit is the Hall of Heroes floor plan with all the different spokes of the sun, unless he replaces the Sleeper.

i always thought of Altador as more of a general ruler/leader than someone dedicated towards knowledge. and that would fit in better with his title as a kind of "seeker of truth", representing justice or something...

and this is 2 cups of coffee and chocolate cake speaking, so i hope that makes sense. :P

This is 5 hours of sleep speaking, and yes you make sense hehe. I do agree with what you're saying. Perhaps one of the "heroes" (possibly the betrayer) will be ousted after they are discovered, and replaced by our beloved Finneus the Archivist, Hero of Knowledge and Wisdom! *insert fanfare here*

i forgot to mention it was about a weeks worth of weird sleeping patterns as well, holidays then to do that..

on topic: i've just managed to catch up with everything :) so yay!! 2 months hiatus hasn't hurt me.. very much..

i think the gatherer will either have something to do with food/farming again, or perhaps petpets? since thats what her statue is covered with.. why i don't understand, gatherer always in my mind stands for the phrase "hunter/gatherer" societies that we studied in school.

this is the remaining easter chocolate speaking, but if it is gathering, traditionally it would either mean foraging, or harvesting. since we already have a "farmer", any thoughts?

dregster: you haven't missed anything :P still waiting for the next clue :)

Oh dear.

A Protractor can be anything used for measurements using or finding angles.
A Compass is something used to find which way to walk.
A Pair of Compasses are used for drawing circles and arcs.

Sorry but the mis-use of 'Compass' had always been a pet hate.

Back to the proper topic.

I think Finneus (anyone else reminded of Voldemort when not actually using his name?) is a lot more to do with the heroes than he lets on, all Kings and Advisors. Also when the king is described as seeker of truth, or whatever it is, it is used to imply knowledge. Someone who actively looks for the truth behind anything tends to learn a lot about what is truthful.

Sat Apr 22, 2006 5:22 pm

truth is very different from history and knowledge. i don't want to exactly confuse.. but i just dug that "seeker of truth" thing out of my head, so its not plot related exactly. i just connected it with what a hunter turned king might perhaps do.

anyway all history is subjective, so can it be considered truth if it is only a version of what happened? history and past knowledge really are separate from divining new knowledge or even considering present circumstances.

a hunter may have good instincts, but that may not necessarily be completely derived from knowledge, it owes a great deal, but it is also dependent on things like good sense. knowledge exists for its own sake in a way.. if that makes any sense,

Completely off the current subject but..

Does anyone have pictures or flash files of each constellation as it is shown once you enter it on your starfield?. I'd appreciate any links so much!.

i still think jerdana is the traitor and finneus is cursed into thinking he's just an archivist when in reality, he's the right hand of the king!!
and when we uncover this truth king altador will return and thanks us bcuz jerdana was poisoning his mind yay!! (umm not yay for the poisoning thingie...but for the rest ^^U)

i'm reminded sorta of the Lord of the Rings with this craaaazay theory :o ;)

also: has anyone noticed the hall that is behind the statue of the DF??

this it the one i'm talking

maybe it will come into the plot later...maybe it's a maze? o_O

***i just loooove smilies <3 ***
