I never thought this was possible

I was putting money in the bank, and when the bank page refreshed, I had a random event. It was a ghost (no, not one of the money tree ghosts...it was mummy-like), and decided to take 40NP off me.

Thing is, I wasn't carrying any NP since it was all in the bank.

But of course, it was taken anyway, so now it says in the top bar:

Welcome, ***** | Pet : ***** | NP : -40

Has anyone else ever been put into the negative like that by the ghosts?

Wow Never. Sounds like a glitch, I think- TNT doesn't want people with negative NP floating around. Report it as a glitch or problem, and see what happens

Yeah, I have, and it's happened many times to me. I don't think it's fair. What's the point of putting it in the bank if it isn't even safe there? Yes, you don't lose large amounts, but I've lost over 3000np over the years because of these events, and I NEVER carry NP with me.

We're talking about having np stolen when you aren't carrying anything. Have you ever had 3000np total stolen when you were carrying 0np?!

Yeah, it's just so strange. I carry around nothing so I won't get it stolen from the ghosts, and not even that helps now. 3000np is a lot to lose from that. Yeah, 40 here and 40 there isn't much, but it does add up.

I think ghosts shouldn't be allowed to leave IOU's with us. If we're silly enough to carry around lots of NP and have it stolen, fair enough. I've had it happen to me and it's not nice. But when there's no NP on me and it's still being taken off me?

They're getting really evil, those ghosts...

Yes it has happened to me a few times, but it has not been large amount of NP.

It happens. No glitch, just a lack of foresight on the part of the programmers.

I've had negative NP in the hundreds of thousands before, due to auction glitches. It's just a bug that Neopets has thankfully at least allowed for. Had they not been prepared for negative NP, they might have had a buffer overflow allowing for all kinds of nasty bugs.

I've been in the negative np a few times before. Usually when I don't have enough np on me to cover what the ghosts steal or something.

i had a time it did that to me..one of the daily games i was playing took for npoints then i had... i was -50nps...i had to gain 50nps to have it erased..

Actually, it's not a glitch or a lack of foresight, that was done on purpose, people were simply not carrying anything to get around all the negative random events. Now nobody's safe (insert theme from jaws here)

It's been like this for the almost 3 years I've been on the site. I've had negative np many times.
