Two. I always do it. >_> 'tis how I was told to do it in my computer class.

I've always put two spaces after a period. I don't remember where or when I learned that to be the correct way, but by now it's so ingrained in me that I don't even think about it.

My English teacher never said that O_o. I've always used one space, it just seems to work better.

I always use two. I think it looks better, and I wish it would let my extra space show up online. **glares** I remember the first time I ever hear that rule, it was during my first real keyboarding class in grade school.

I never knew you had to use 2 spaces.. :?
Well, you learn new things every day :D

I use one. Probably because I've always been taught like that. However, I seem to pick up people's habits over the internet, so I'll probably end up double spacing in a couple of years XD

Same here, I've never been taught that I had to leave 2 spaces (then again I've never taken a typing class). It looks weird to me to leave two spaces, it feels like I left a big empty gap...

I tend to use two spaces after the period. At one point I did only use one space but I went back to old habits.

I think it's easier to type one space after the period and you have less rules to remember. I'm quite interested to learn that this is a leftover from typewriters though, simply because I find it quite an interesting fact.

Personally I really don't mind if I use single or double spacing but I pretend to myself (like I did when I was tiny and first learned this) that I'm more professional and grown-up. I figure this is just one of those "development" things that happen. English is an ever-changing language and this is probably going to be one of them. In a generation or two it'll be all one spacing after the period.

It's like the speech marks thing. In writing I was taught to do them in the shape of 66 and 99, but now I write them more like //. In typing most people show speech through 'single marks like these' whereas it used to be "double marks like these". Anyone who RPs regularly with me may have noticed a switch in speech marks by me - back to old habits yet again. There's something quaint in being old school that attracts me.

Plus I always wanted a typewriter. I think I'll invest in one when I grow up and go clickaty-clack on them. I'll probably waste a whole bunch of paper from making mistakes and not backspacing, or being able to. I ought to practice better typing more - I rely on the backspace too much. :P

What are monospace fonts, vermilion?

We have an electric typewriter somewhere. The belts made for deleting are darn expensive to replace.

I've always put one space after a full stop O.o I hardly remember rule about two spaces. Ok, I'd forgotten :P

I always use two spaces. We learned it in like...fourth grade, I remember the first time I had to type up a paper in that grade, and got chatised for using one space, I had to go back and do two spaces. That was quite traumatizing at the time - :) I was such a wimp.

But yeah, two spaces. I also indent paragraphs, because my english teacher goes insane if we do the space inbetween paragraph thing.

We have 2 manual typewriters. No deleting, so it's tipp-ex all the way on those babies :P

I always go one space. Two spaces looks like it's too far.

Same thing for me. As I said before, I was taught to use two spaces. Yet, me, being the rebellious chick that I am (Yeah, right! :P) I only use one space. I just never thought using two spaces looked right to me.

Eh... It depends what font you're using, I find. Some fonts would make it so that two spaces is eternity, while wiith others, two is a fraction of a centmetre.
