Minority Rules [whops... ended already?]

Wed Nov 19, 2008 7:40 pm

Now that WW's ended my inbox feels all empty without the 10-15 PMs I used to exchange with people every day :(
So I thought I'd host this quick game while waiting for another WW to come along. I found the game described in the Liar Game manga, and I thought it would be interesting to try out in real life.

Rules
1. Every day, I will post a question on the thread. The question will only have two possible answers (yes/no, pandas/penguins, etc...)
2. All players still in the game will have to PM me their answer to the question. Deadline for answers is 7pm GMT, if you don't get your PM in by then you'll be automatically eliminated.
3. After tallying the votes, the people who chose the least popular answer will advance to the next round. So if 7 people answer "no" and 4 people answer "yes", all those who answered "no" will be eliminated and the 4 who answered "yes" (the minority) will advance to the next round.
3b. Actually, everyone will start with 3 lives. After tallying the votes, the people who chose the most popular answer will lose one life. So if 7 people answer "no" and 4 people answer "yes", all those who answered "no" will lose one life. All those with at least one life left will advance to the next round.
4. In case of a tie, the round will be voided, nobody will get a strike and I'll post a different question.
5. There is no Rule 5.
6. You're welcome to discuss the current and past rounds in the thread, in PMs, emails, chats, whatever. You can form alliances with other people, share your answers, lie about what you're going to answer, etc. You can do pretty much anything short of life threats.
7. The game ends when only one or two players are left (because obviously you can't play it with just two).

Signups
I'm looking for 10-20 players, the game can be played with however many people but of course it works better if there's more players. The game should last a week at most, but please don't sign up unless you're sure you can be online every day for the next week to send your answers.
To sign up, post on this thread and also PM me a list of 3-4 questions. They should be simple to understand and only have two possible answers. For each round I'm going to randomly pick one of your questions, so choose wisely :P

Players (not updated)
Purple = still playing
Blue = question used in a round already this has no purpose but to keep my notes organized, really
1. Siniri (out round 5)
2. Twiz (out round 5)
3. loser
4. John (out round 4)
5. amarise
6. Ammer (out round 5)
7. May (out round 5)
8. Urthdigger (out round 4)

9. Katherine (out round 5)
10. StuMan (out round 5)
11. Regan (out round 5)

12. Rachel
13. pipsqueeek
14. Pink
15. Dyl

Game starts on Friday, 7pm GMT. Unless you decide to boycott me and nobody signs up.

Oh, that sounds cool. I also want to read the manga now, too, if it was any good.

Re: Minority Rules [signups open, send me those PMs!]

All added, but it's a bit depressing that I only got 3 PMs so far. Send those questions, it doesn't have to be a calculus problem! Though, if you don't send any questions, I could just think one up and then it will be a calculus problem. Be warned :P

This is because I thought about it and I figured out that even with 12 players the game would end in two rounds, so the 3 lives will stretch things to a week like I said.
