podcast Episode 37 for The PPT Show all Wrapped Up!

Hi everyone! Just finished recording episode 37 for The PPT Show with co-hosts Dave Moyer, Lee, Helena and Jonny Blackler. With the new show format only allowing four (or four plus one) hosts for the future, the show quality improved immensely and I’m actually really excited to release this episode which should be soon! (Although the daylight savings time did play havoc with a lot of people’s times… hmmm… darn daylight savings!!)

We also recorded an “After the Show” segment just as an added bonus for all our listeners out there, and I also recorded the third interview for our “Faces Behind PPT” with Evan Murphy who have been with us at The PPT Show for a good while now.

Hold your horses people because a couple of new releases soon and then back to the exam study for me.

PPT Welcoming Neopets Website Owners

wolverine PPT Welcoming Neopets Website Owners

Carlos, who owns Virtual Pets List, Myspace Codes and the Virtual Pets Blog, recently approached me and we considered how we could unite the Neopets community so that everyone could benefit overall. It got me thinking a bit, and I actually really like the idea. I remember pulling away from the entire Neopets webmaster community a long time ago because I didn’t want to become involved in the bickering that was occurring at the time, but I think it’s time to head back in and learn a few new things; after all, we don’t exist in a vacuum and every website would benefit.

Case in point, myself and Dave Moyer from Neocast operate the two largest Neopets podcasts in the world. You’d think we’d be at each other’s throats but we regularly appear on each other’s shows and discuss all things podcasting like say… podcasting gear… best ways to record and mix shows… we’ve even saved each other numeroues times due to unforeseen circumstances. This is resulted in the quality of both shows improving immensely and hey… what can I say… we both. officially. ROCK. From planning future projects to everything in between, it has made internet time a little more enjoyable; so yes to competition friendliness!

So what will I be doing? I’ve opened up affiliation applications on PPT to every Neopets webmaster out there. (Pretty big step too as we’re going to be displaying links/buttons on EVERY page at PPT.) So come on Neopets webmasters! Step up and make us proud!!

helena-yoyo-neopets-halloween The PPT Show Hosts Helena and YoYo Dress up as Neopets Characters for Halloween

Three cheers to The PPT Show hosts Helena and YoYo for having the guts, determination and sweat to go through with The PPT Show challenge and dress up as Neopets characters for a very Neopetty Halloween 2007! Looking good guys!

Part of the reason The PPT Podcast was renamed to The PPT Show was because the hosts all agreed that we’d eventually move from the voice-only realm to the television realm as well so that the entire show would be more representative of a true talk show. So how will this be done? With lighting, makeup, a great selection of clothes and through the use of webcams or video cameras.

We’re currently researching into how this can be achieved so yes, we do eventually hope to reach this stage where we release a weekly talk show complete with camera footage of the host actually talking. When will this occur? Who knows really but we’re hoping over the next few months.

Although I must admit, I’m wary about the popularity of Neopets. I do feel like it is waning and I think a big reason for this is that there is a lot of new games out there now that capture the imagination of the audience more. In other words, I think Neopets is getting slightly outdated. If only they created a virtual world where we could trade and make our own items, and have an exchange rate into real world dollars, I’d definitely be into that for sure.

In other news, after I upgraded all the blogs to the latest stable releases, I kept thinking whether I should convert PPT Main into a content management system like WordPress. Despite the hard work it would take to convert all the pages, I don’t think it’s something that I will be doing in the foreseeable future; although I do like the way the update system here puts things into categories. The redesign by Ben Williams better be worth it. I need something super sexy to convince me that I made the correct choice!
